Readers Anonymous Book Club
Baraboo Public Library
In September, the book club for readers in their 20s and 30s will discuss The Hours, by Michael Cunningham. The Hours is a stream of consciousness novel that details the experiences of three women during the course of a single day in their lives as they each interact with the Virginia Woolf novel, Mrs. Dalloway. Virginia Woolf is depicted near London in 1923 as she writes Mrs. Dalloway while contending with mental illness. In 1949 Los Angeles, Laura Brown is a bored housewife reading Mrs. Dalloway. In 1999 New York City, Clarissa Vaughan embodies the Mrs. Dalloway character as she reflects on her life experiences while preparing to host a party for her dying former lover. Cunningham's novel examines the beauty of the minutiae of everyday life.

In September the book club will meet at Tin Roof Dairy, 119 3rd Ave., Baraboo.
